The last 12 months truly has been a proud time for IABC Victoria. As you've no doubt already heard, our incredible members won eight Gold Quill awards (including three special awards) in 2014 followed up by a further nine Gold Quills in 2015. To top that off, your IABC Victoria Board received four IABC Chapter Management Awards in late 2014.

Now, we're incredibly proud to announce that one of our own – IABC Victoria Immediate Past President, Zora Artis – has received one of the most prestigious awards available to any IABC member: The IABC Chairman's Award.

Every year, the global IABC Chairman confers the Chairman's Award upon two volunteer IABC members "whose efforts to positively enhance the organisation's reputation and image have gone beyond that of what many volunteers may undertake."

This year, Zora has received this powerful acknowledgement together with Susan Walker, ABC, who is a specialist in communication measurement and employee research and author of the definitive book on the subject, Employee Engagement and Communication Research.

While many of you know Zora, few would appreciate the enormous scale of IABC work she does behind the scenes. As well as her role on the IABC Victoria Board, Zora is also a member of the IABC Brand Task Force, IABC World Conference Program Advisory Committee and IABC Policy Review/Governance Committee. She is also a Gold Quill Awards Blue Ribbon Panel evaluator.

These extraordinary efforts have earned Zora a glowing acknowledgement from the IABC Chairman, Russell Grossman, ABC:

“Zora’s attention-to-detail, world view, ‘extrospective’ approach, indefatigability, and business acumen make her a role model for the local leader who will propel IABC into the future,” said Grossman. “I’ve chosen Zora especially because she exemplifies what IABC should in my view stand for most: business communicator.”

On hearing of this award, Zora said….

"There are many adjectives that aptly describe how I feel. Surprised and thrilled definitely, but overwhelmingly honoured and humbled to receive the IABC Chairman’s Award alongside Susan Walker, ABC. This award highlights the positive outcomes that can be achieved with clear purpose, passion and commitment.

The true value of the IABC comes from what you put into it. I originally joined IABC to connect and learn and then followed that up by joining the IABC Victoria board to strengthen my director skill set. Looking back I have done this and so much more. I've connected with and learnt from some of our profession’s most talented practitioners – on our board, with senior leaders, within our chapter and across the globe. The extraordinary success that has been achieved by IABC Victoria over the past two years would not have been possible without the support and commitment of many. My thanks to all of you."

Congratulations Zora from all of us at IABC Victoria. This is a marvellous award that's been very, very well earned.
