Greetings all,

Well it has been an interesting month for communications in Australia. With the Gasp fiasco and QANTAS union dispute, communicators across the country are watching – and talking about how best to deal with their responsibilities in times of crisis, particularly in a world of instantaneous communication.

So it is timely that the next event is based on Crisis and Reputation. To be held at lunchtime on Friday November 18, Sam North (Ogilvy) and Barbara Sharp (Pax Populus) will give commentary on the GASP and QANTAS case studies. Tickets are on sale now and more information is available on the website.

Earlier this month the board met to set the strategy for the coming year. It was a very productive session (especially considering the 9am start on a Sunday morning) and the result is a comprehensive plan that will drive our operations over the coming 12 months.

There’s been some great discussions happening on our LinkedIn group including a particularly helpful thread for those of you who may be thinking of submitting an entry to the 2012 Gold Quill Awards; including a special roundtable event to dispel any mysteries around Gold Quill . If you’re considering entering, I highly recommend you jump on now and check it out! Note: the IABC Victoria LinkedIn group is a closed group for members only.

And finally, be sure to keep an eye out on the blog this month. We will be launching the blogging with the board program and the first post is due any day now.

Until next time,

Kate O’Donnell

President – IABC Victoria
