Molly Campbell is our Region & Chapter Connections officer and originally hails from Toronto in Canada. She is the perfect example of how the ‘International’ within International Association of Business Communicators is a benefit to our members, and shares two great upcoming opportunities to expand your network on an international level.

Most of us use IABC as a way to connect with communicators within our own city.

But beyond building relationships in Victoria, our association opens doors to communicators in nearly 100 chapters across Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, North and South America.

IABC was my professional lifeline when I moved from Toronto, Canada to Canberra and then Melbourne, Australia.

I was quickly welcomed to a network of leading communicators in my new country, even some who personally know members of my chapter back home.

The greatest highlight so far was having the opportunity to travel with Canberra chapter members to the 2016 world conference last year.

Bumping into my former professor from Toronto while listening to jazz in New Orleans with new friends from Australia: now that’s a perfect IABC moment.

There are two opportunities to benefit from the “i” in IABC coming up soon:

IABC World Conference 2017

From 11 – 14 June, communicators from around the world will meet in Washington, D.C. for IABC World Conference 2017. This year’s theme is Global Business: Lead Communication-Make Real Impact, focusing on the global rise of communication as a business-crucial part of any organisation.

If you’re not going, don’t worry – Twitter will be a flurry with #IABC17 posts and we’ll be sure to keep you updated on our Victorian chapter channels.

Fusion 2017, IABC Asia Pacific’s inaugural regional conference

From 23 – 25 August, the APAC region’s inaugural conference Fusion 2017 will take place in Singapore. This event brings together members from one of the most culturally and geographically diverse regions of IABC. Registrations are still open.

And if you thought an overseas trip might be out of reach, right now we’re giving away one free Fusion registration and travel stipend to IABC Victoria members. More info here.
