We asked and you answered! This year we ran our IABC Victoria Chapter membership survey looking for your feedback to provide insights into our growth and development as a Chapter. Results are in and have validated many of the activities we’ve been focusing on, such as making sure we hold free networking events for members, like the Mid-Week Mingle, because you value making connections in person, and nurturing our next generation of communication talent through encouraging students to join and enter our Gold Quill Awards.
We had a solid 20% of our members respond and complete the survey. The majority of you want events on topics like leadership communication, communication trends, change communication, digital communication and measurement. That said, there was not one topic on our list that was not popular so we have a wide range of interests to cater to, which reflects our growing and diverse membership base.
Other highlights from the survey included a:
- keen interest in more thought-leadership content, hearing from our local Chapter, and also our Asia Pacific (APAC) region;
- high awareness of Certification and The Academy, but an appetite to know more before using these professional development programs;
- high awareness Gold Quill Award program and an appetite to hear more from winners, and to encourage more student members to enter;
- preference to communicate via face-to-face events, before and after work.
As promised we’re using these insights, along with any other feedback we receive from our members to make sure we all get what we’re looking for from our membership in our local Chapter. In the coming months, we’ll be featuring thought-leadership pieces, including our Gold Quill Award winners, and our first ever 2017 Sharon Berzok Award winner for the best student entry internationally, Saania Habeeb.
