Certification

Why Get Certified?

As a business communicator, professional certification can elevate your career and help keep your skills fresh and applicable. It provides a great opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge and expertise. And it could help you land your next big opportunity or perform at a higher level in your current role.

At IABC Victoria, we fully support our members to attain this goal by holding local certification exams.

The Global Communication Certification Council (GCCC) is a part of IABC and offers two levels of certification.

  • Communication Management Professional (CMP) — For generalist, specialist and other business communication professionals established in their careers as managers and looking to demonstrate their competence.

  • Strategic Communication Management Professional (SCMP) — For highly skilled business communication professionals practiced in providing strategic communication advice and counselling to an organisation’s leadership.

Certification is a third-party, quality assurance that you are able to perform a job or role at a specific level. In this case, as a generalist, specialist, or highly skilled leader.

Certification examinations are held each year. For this year’s dates or to make an enquiry about certification, please email recognition@iabcvic.com.au
