The Board consists of a leadership team, comprising the President, Vice President and Immediate Past President, the Treasurer and Secretary. In addition, there are up to two Board members – known as Chairs – in each of the following portfolios: Brand, Events, Partnerships, Professional Development and Memberships.

We are delighted that the majority of our Board members from 2024 will continue on into 2025. These Board members not only bring a diverse and impressive mix of experience and skills to the Board, but immense passion for continuing to elevate the impact of the Board for the benefit of IABC Vic members and community into 2025 and beyond.

They include: Julia Loughlin, Amanda Fong, Camille Hanton, Amy Sharpe, Georgina Patterson, Lauren Andrews, Swan Li Chew and Rachelle Bryant.

The Vice President signs on for a three-year term, committing to becoming the President the following year and the Immediate Past President the year after that. All other positions have a one or two-year term.

Which Board positions are available?

As we have so many continuing Board members, we only have a few exciting positions available for 2025:

Who should apply?

We encourage passionate, dedicated professionals from various sectors and backgrounds within Victoria's communication profession to step forward. This may include the private sector, government, NFP - across industries. Your diverse experiences and perspectives will contribute to the Board's success.

What if I've never been on a board before?

Consideration for the IABC Vic Board isn't limited by prior board experience. A role on the board combines traditional board duties–such as steering strategic direction and ensuring governance–with the practical application of your communication skills and expertise. This scope offers a balance between learning and contributing, fostering professional growth.

So, whether you've served on a committee, hold a GAICD, or have no board experience, as long as you're a dedicated communication professional committed to excellence and with an entrepreneurial mindset, you likely possess the skills we're seeking.

What does it mean to be a volunteer Board member?

We are a volunteer Board that is focussed on driving positive professional outcomes for our community which consists of professionals across Corporate Communications, Corporate Affairs, Media Relations, Government Relations, External and Internal Communications, Marketing Communications, Consulting.

We take the governance of IABC Victoria seriously. This includes channeling our intellect and energy into areas we know will generate the most value for our members and community. This includes a program of popular events that celebrates, promotes and elevates the thinking of the profession at large.

To nominate yourself, complete and submit the nomination form along with your CV by EOD Wednesday 15 January 2025. Showcase your skills and experience and explain the contribution you feel that you can make to the IABC Vic Board and communication professional more broadly.
