Join IABC Victoria, in collaboration with our event partner, FTI Consulting, as Managing Director David Whitely, delivers an exclusive IABC Victoria preview of his 2024 IABC World Conference presentation about avoiding the common pitfalls and ensuring best practice in crisis communication.

From proactive measures to post-crisis recovery, this session will offer valuable insights to steering through the turbulent journey from chaos to clarity.

Following the presentation, IABC Victoria will host a panel discussion with leaders in the communication profession who will share their insights and advice to navigate a crisis. Networking over canapes and refreshments, will take place following the panel discussion.

  • David Whitely, Managing Director, FTI Consulting

    Bringing more than 25 years’ expertise in crisis communication and reputation management, David has traversed the realms of journalism, corporate communications and public relations across the UK, North America and Australia.

  • Nicole Lyons, General Manager Brand & Reputation, APA Group

    Nicole is an accomplished executive leader with a demonstrated history managing crisis situations. Her experience over 20 years’ spans multiple industries covering crisis communications, media relations, brand management, marketing strategy, digital marketing and internal communication.

  • Nick Richardson, Chief Executive Officer, Melbourne Press Club

    Nick Richardson is a journalist, writer, and academic. He has worked across a range of publications in Australia and the UK, as a reporter and newsroom manager, and created editorial training programs for entry-level journalists. He has taught journalism at three universities, written or edited nine books, and has a doctorate in history from the University of Melbourne. Nick was the resident Storyteller at the nation's peak body for giving, Philanthropy Australia, before becoming the Melbourne Press Club's CEO.

  • Liz Pike, Internal Communications and Engagement Manager, MLC Life Insurance
    With 20 years’ experience in communication, marketing and branding, Liz is passionate about creating engaging experiences and results-driven campaigns. Prior to joining MLC Life Insurance, Liz was Head of Group Communications and Events at Wilson Group. She has strong expertise guiding businesses through crisis situations and managing external and internal reputation impacts.
